Cameron Dickson started his swimming career in a summer club when he was 13 years old before transitioning to a year-round club. Cameron has competed at national and international competitions while learning from some of the best swimmers and coaches in the world. He later swam varsity with the University of Victoria Vikings before retiring from swimming in 2021.
Cameron is NCCP Level 1 certified and also has his National Lifeguard Certification and Standard First Aid.
Cameron has been coaching since approximately 2017 and joined the JDF Royals in 2023.
Cameron has found coaching to be an incredibly rewarding experience, as he loves seeing the swimmers improve and achieve their goals. Swimming has given him so many great opportunities and he wants to pass that on to the swimmers that he coaches.
Matthew MacDonald has been swimming for many years, starting with a winter club in Calgary, Alberta almost 15 years ago. Matt has his NCCP Level 1 coaching certification, first aid and CPR C as well as Safe Sport Certification. He has previous experience working as a lifeguard, a swim coach and, a camp counsellor. Matt moved to BC in 2022 to compete with the University of Victoria Vikings.
Highlights of Matt's swimming career include 16 top-10 finishes in the 2022-2023 season, including two podium finishes, finishing eighth at the Canada West Championships in 2024 in 100 Free with a time of 50.62 (not even a best time!), and winning a bronze medal at the USports National Championships in the 4x200 men's relay in Toronto.
Matt joined the JDF Royals in 2025.

Ashleigh is a University of Victoria student and is an accomplished addition to the UVIC varsity swim team. She grew up swimming and has past experience coaching all age groups for a summer team in her home town in Nova Scotia.
Ashleigh joined the JDF Royals in 2026.
